Careers in Climate
Every job is a climate job because the climate transition is a global economy-wide generational task. But, when I started working in climate, there weren't any roadmaps, unless you wanted to be an actual climate scientist or an energy auditor. There were, however, many people who were already experienced professionals motivated by, or understanding their work as or having, climate impacts. They were on their own professional journeys to hone their mission and impact, and were open and welcoming to total newcomers like me.
With this blog, I'm hoping to do a few things:
- For folks new to climate work, whether career changers or new professionals, I'm continuing the work I started in 2002 when I started GreenHomeNYC: trying to flatten the learning curve for you.
- For leaders in climate, I'd like to share what I'm learning (or learning to do differently) as Co-Founder and CEO of Cadence OneFive, a social enterprise with a climate justice mission, that is also a VC-backed software technology startup.
- For folks underrepresented (and underestimated) in the rooms where the decisions are made, I'm going to give you my POV as a neurodivergent woman of color.
If you find some value in it, then I hope you'll share back to me, so I can learn from you as well!
